EMILY WILSON MADDOX GRIDER

Emily A. Wilson was born in Putnam County, Indiana March 29, 1835 and died at Ord, Nebraska March 16, 1909 aged 73 years 11 months and 16 days. She was united in marriage to James M. Maddox, Nov 3, 1857; to this union were born two children one of whom, James M. Maddox survives her. She again was married to William H. Grider, Oct 4, 1864. To this union 7 children were born of whom 3 survive. Barton S; Jesse H. and Charles M. There were also one son and 3 daughters, children of William Grider whom she reared from childhood as her own. Of these are living: Emma J. Sweet; Elizabeth C. Eakert and Amanda M. Wray all of whom love her as their own mother. THere are also two grandchildren, Mabel H. and W. Hinton Grider. She was again married August 1904, to James S. Bussell of Ord, Nebraska who still survives her. She was converted and joined the ME Church in early life and after her marriage to William Grider she united with the Christian Church. She lived all her life a true devoted Christian, with her Bible as her constant guide. She was held in the highest esteem by all who knew her. To know her was but to love her. - kbz
